Together, we have examined the promises of Romans 3 through 5. Let’s circle back to Romans 4:5. This time, however, let’s look to the Joseph Smith Translation of the Bible, also called the Inspired Version.

Reliable Bible translations speak of God who justifies ungodly sinners. This justification is available to all simply because they believe. It speaks of justification for you and me. Instead of reading, “Him that justifieth the ungodly”, Smith wrote, “him who justifieth not the ungodly (emphasis added).”

And now, a few concluding questions.

Pause and Ponder

If the Joseph Smith Translation is correct, what of us?

• If God will not justify the ungodly, how could Abraham be counted righteous?
• If Abraham cannot be justified, what hope is there for you?
• Can you point to a promise in Romans 3 & 4 that remains valid if God will not justify the ungodly?
• How can we have peace with God if the promises of Romans 4 are made void?
