For sixty years, I ached to follow God. I longed to be in a saving relationship with Jesus. The fruit of all that trying was a nagging doubt and endless guilt. I was baptized and confirmed in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Even so, I never comprehended the new creation until I experienced a new and better rebirth.

This new birth came when I fully leaned into Jesus. On that day, I surrendered all my hopes, will, and pride to Jesus alone. I laid my doubt and imagined worthiness at the foot to the cross and begged Jesus to take it. This new birth is not an event, ordinance. or church tradition. It is a movement of God that makes all things new in the very moment of surrender.

Now, I rest in He who is the only way.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

John 14:6, KJV

I have eternal life and I know it.

I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.
