The man who first taught me that Smith is my Way, Truth and Life was more than an acquaintance. He was a longtime friend, a cherished friend. He was the father of a large family. My children often visited their home; his children were guests in ours. They remain faithful to the teachings of their father. The eternal cost of their belief presses heavily on my soul.
As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I served as a temple veil worker. As such, I stood on Heaven’s side of the veil and tested the peoples knowledge of various signs and tokens. I admitted those who performed admirably and denied the rest. I represented the judge of the Mormon people, that much was evident. To this day, I am unclear. As a veil worker, did I represent Joseph of Jesus?
God knew false prophets would rise up to lead the people astray (Jeremiah 14:14). He did not leave us without a defense. Those with a desire to see will understand and find safety in the truth. Those who see will know and apply God’s method of testing (Deuteronomy 13:1-5 & Deuteronomy 18:20-22 & Matthew 7:15-16 & Acts 17:11 & Galatians 1:6-9 & 1 John 4:1 & Revelation 2:2). As we apply these tests, we prove our love for God (Deuteronomy 13:3). As we test everything, God keeps His promise and His truth protects and makes us free (John 8:31-32).
